Valve Positioners

SAMSON digital positioners are single-acting or double-acting positioners for attachment to pneumatic linear or rotary actuators. 

Due to their digital signal processing technology, these positioners have the following advantages over conventional positioners: 

. Simple operation 

. LCD with rotatable reading direction 

. Automatic zero and span calibration during initialization (except for Type 3730-0) 

. Automatic detection of faults in the actuator 

. Direction of action independent of mounting position 

. Continuous monitoring of zero point 

. Low air consumption 

. Permanent storage of all parameters in EEPROM (protected against power failure)


The Types 3730-3, 3730-6 and 3731-3 Positioners also allow HART® communication between the field and process control level. 

The Type 3730-4 Positioner allows the integration of the final control element into a PROFIBUS® PA network

The Types 3730-5 and 3731-5 Positioners can communicate over a FOUNDATION™ fieldbus network.

Single-acting positioner for attachment to pneumatic globe and rotary valves. Self-calibrating, automatic adaptation to valve and actuator. Reference variable 4 to 20 mA

Series 3731 Type 3731-5 Electropneumatic Ex d Positioner with FOUNDATIONTM fieldbus communication

Application 

Positioners for attachment to pneumatic control valves 

Rated travels from 3.6 to 200 mm.  Opening angle 24 to 100° 

Smart, bus-powered field device complying with FOUNDATIONTM fieldbus specifications based on IEC 61158-2 transmission technology. Integrated function blocks: PID process controller, analog output (AO), one binary input for DC voltage signals (DI1) or for connection of one floating contact (DI2).

The Type 3731-5 Positioner communicates according to FOUNDATION™ fieldbus specification with field devices, programmable logic controllers and process control systems. An integrated PID function block allows the control of process variables required directly in the field. The shift to distributed control reduces the number of control tasks to be performed by the higher-level automation system.


Series 3730 Type 3730-0 Electropneumatic Positioner

Application 

Single-acting or double-acting positioner for attachment to pneumatic control valves 

Set point 4 to 20 mA.  Travel 5.3 to 200 mm


Type 3766 Pneumatic Positioner 

Type 3767 Electropneumatic Positioner

Application 

Single-acting or double-acting positioners for attachment to pneumatic control valves. These positioners use a pneumatic input signal from 0.2 to 1 bar or 3 to 15 psi (Type 3766) or an electric input signal from 0/4 to 20 mA or 1 to 5 mA (Type 3767). 

Rated travels from 7.5 to 120 mm or opening angles up to 90°


Type 4763 Electropneumatic Positioner 

Type 4765 Pneumatic Positioner

Application 

Single-acting positioners for attachment to pneumatic control valves. These positioners use an electric input signal from 0/4 to 20 mA or 1 to 5 mA (Type 4763) or a pneumatic input signal from 0.2 to 1 bar (3 to 15 psi) (Type 4765). 

Rated travels from 7.5 to 90 mm

A Type 4765 Pneumatic Positioner can be upgraded to a Type 4732 Electropneumatic Positioner.
